Default I got one!

I decided on the ES300 and finally bought one this week after a lot of research.

2002 Lexus ES300
Color: Garnett (Dark Red) - Nice and unique
Interior: Tan Leather
30,300 miles
Has Navigation (which I already love)
Pic (from dealer) attached

This is the first Lexus that I've owned (although I did own a 97 Toyota Camry once upon a time). The only thing it's missing is the CD changer (only has single disc) and I would like a wood steering wheel too.

Anybody have any info on purchasing/installing a Lexus disc changer and/or the factory wood steering wheel?

Welcome to CL, and congrats on your latest ES purchase. I've always thought the Black Garnet Pearl is one of the freshest and newest colors for the '02-'05 ES. Too bad there are not many ES in that color around here

If I remember correctly, the in-dash CD changer (the "single disc" player you're talking about) comes standard in all '02+ ES. The CD changer you're thinking about belongs in the '97-'01 ES, which is a factory option and is located in the glove compartment. There's no CD changer in the glove compartment of all '02+ ES.

The wood steering wheel is a factory option for the '02 ES, and I'm sure you can get it from Ebay at a better price than from a dealership.

Good luck with your new car.

I'm surprised that your car wasn't equipped with the wood steering wheel and 6 CD changer especially since it has the NAV system. A very unusual option package.
I know when I bought my '03ES and wanted the NAV system I had to take the complete package which included, a Mark Levinson sound system & 6 CD changer(mounted in the center console), rain sensing windshield wipers, HID headlamps, power rear sunshade, memory seats, plus some other things that I might have forgotten.

It has most of what you mentioned: rain sensing windshield wipers, HID headlamps, memory seats, heated seats, NAV, etc.

Doesn't have Wood wheel, power rear sunshade, or 6 CD.

I checked ebay for the wood steering wheel, but no luck for now. What about the 6 Disc? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Josh Millburn

As far as retrofitting a 6CD changer, I would check with your Lexus dealer to see if it can be done without too much of a hassle. I say this because your radio might be different then the premium radio that came with an in-dash 6CD changer built in. The wiring harness is probably different also. When a car is delivered with the Mark Levinson radio there is a harness that goes to the center console where the 6CD changer is mounted. Your car wouldn't have this harness, and your radio wouldn't have the controls to operate the changer.
