I recently brought a audio tape utility to play an mp3 player in the car. It also included an adapter to play it without batteries. The adapter goes in to the cigarette lighter socket. Now I had never tested that socket before.
So I plugged the adapter in, and the light on the adapter never came on neither did it seem to give power to the mp3 player or any other device I tested it with. Then I realized that a couple of times the light did come on while I was half way putting the adapter in and disappeared the moment I pushed it further. But it was just two times and I couldnt get it to light after that at all.
I am going to get a new piece for that adapter today. But if that does not works either then I guess I will have to get a completely new socket.
Has anyone ever got any work done on the socket? How much does it usually costs to replace just in case?
I had the same exact problem but with a cell phone charger. I could wiggle it around in a certain spot and it would work fine. I wrote it off as being universal enough not to work. Hope it helps.
I had the same problem. Come to find out it was just a strange intermitten type power problem. So i ran a line with a filter from radio shack now i get a nice clean powered cig lighter installed into my arm rest.
Mine did work after wiggling the adapter just twice and since then on, it has not worked. I have changed the adapter but still the same condition. So looks like it may have some loose power connection and I may have to take it to dealership for inspection for that.
