Default $2K for ...front control arm bushings?

During a typical 125K mile inspection video the tech mentioned that he was "starting to seeing cracking on the bushings of the front lower control arms". Being familiar with similar needs in prior vehicles I thought, "OK, probably a couple hundred $s" so I was STUNNED to see a quote of $1,993.26!!!"

Tell me that is just a technique to try to get people to trade in their cars, right? What could POSSIBLY need to be done to run the price up THAT high on a 2014 ES300h with 123K miles?

The bushings are a part of the complete lower control arm. I have a 2016 that has minor cracking on the exterior of the bushing but is not affecting the integrity of the inner bushing. The part itself is just over $200 so you are seeing the dealership labor cost. Unless they disassembled it or you have indications of a bad bushing I do not see an issue.

Yep, normal way to address is to replace the control arms themselves & OEM part is around that $200 mark. I have an indy that I use for our Audi so I guess I'll be running it by them to see what kind of price they can offer. We are not experiencing any noise out of them at this time but since the car is 11 years old, I figure we should address it. Just thought that $1,600 in labor seems ...excessive

Stop taking your car to the dealer, that is your answer!

That's funny! Not helpful in ANY way and not "really" funny either so thanks manchild!
We have indy's for our other makes.
We had been taking this ES300h to Toyota for most regular services but felt that with a potential brake job we would want the dealer to handle it and honestly would not mind paying reasonable dealer rates for a brake job that they estimated around $500.
I'll get a price from my indy for doing this but the reality is that we may just sell it before too long anyway as she wants to buy something new before she retires.

It is normal for some cracks to appear at the bushings, especially when you lift the car. I bet they are healthy for anther 125000 miles.

Any updates on this? I'm starting to get some clunking noises and suspect I may be in for a similar journey. Thanks!
