Default Sticky Dash

2007 ES350

Anyone try painting their sticky dash?

I see a few people on YT got good results with:

1- duplicolor leather and vinyl paint
2- sticky dash fix product (stickydashfix.com)
3- someone in the comments said they used angelus acrylic paint on their 2009 camry

2007 es350 with all black interior

I ended up using the angelus acrylic flat black paint and painted the entire dash. Took like 30 minutes. I used a foam brush. Dash looks fantastic and no more sticky dash/glare in the windshield.

Wipe the dash with clorox wipes and clean it well before painting.

I used Stickydash kit. It failed after a year I believe, I posted on another thread about the melting dash. I think part of it is it doesn't matter if the sunlight directly hits the dash. Just the heat alone causes it to melt, so eventually the painted layer (at least from stickydash) will fail anyways. I had a sunshade in the car for the windshield thinking it would help but really didn't do anything

Thanks for the feedback. The sticky dash kit was a little to expensive for me ($50 plus shipping)

I went with the $10 fix and it "resolved" my issue. Still some imperfections but the glare and stickiness is gone (for now). I'll just keep re-applying the paint. The car is 17 years old with 225k miles.

Yea 2017/2018ish is when the campaign ended. I didn't even try going to the dealership. The car is 17 years old with 200k+ miles. It's not worth fighting. I'm good with the painted dash.

I bought a clean dash like new from junk yard for $80. I’ll be removing my dash and replacing it with this one.

That is a great price. I would do the same. Mine started to crack.

Bought my 2007 in 2018, previous owner kept the car in garage 95% of it's life. No problem with dash, so ignored recall.
Now, dash looks like a dogs breakfast. Have a carpet cover on it, but not happy with that.
Was just reminded that CLOVERLY sells an ABS dashboard cover that looks OEM, a little over $250 delivered.
When the weather warms up, I'm a customer.

<< Shrugs >>
I've got no dog in the fight you apparently want to start.
If I order this, and test fit it, and it's "ugly and it's mother dresses it funny", worst possible case, I'm out return shipping cost + 15% restocking.fee.
I'd be interested in anyone's opinion who has actually *seen* this after it was installed, maybe photos?

So, how long did it take you to remove the original sticky dash, and replace it?
2, 3, 5, 10 hours ? And btw did you replace the heater or A/C cores -preventative maintenance- while you were there?

BTW, did you have to pull the dash yourself, at the junkyard -or- did they have it out, waiting for you, at $80 ?

CCN actually did a heater core replacement on the 5th gen ES350, should give you a clue as to what's involved (seems like a lot)
