I took my ES to the shop to check out the air conditioning. I evidently was low on Freon that he corrected. He told me the fan controller was not turning on the condenser fan. I ordered one from A-Premium, neither fan would turn on, the second one was bad also. No more tries with A-premium!! I ordered one from a junk yard. It came from a RS. The condenser fan would still not come on. But I drove to Salt Lake about 35 miles. Coming home from our family reunion we stopped at a gas station to get some ice water. While my wife was in the store I noticed the temp gauge was increasing. I popped the hood and the engine cooling fan was running. My wife returned shortly before it reached red. The temperature went down once we got on the freeway.
Question, are these fans variable speed? I have not put the old controller back in. But to my knowledge the engine did not exhibit this over heating condition with the old controller.
Now, to troubleshoot the condenser fan. Is the main connector from the ECU? Is this signal a discrete signal for each fan, on or off. Or is it an analog signal. There are two large spades and a center very small one. I have not been able to find a pin out on the three pin connector. Does anyone have this?
