Won’t start
Emm, there is a good number of things that we will need to clear up before proceeding.
First of all, what is the Year, Model and Mileage on the car?
What was done prior to the issue taking place? Issues like that don't come out of the blue..
What kind of a noise was it? Right now it could be anything from a sound nearby to an engine falling out onto your driveway.
Start by opening the hood and inspecting that everything is where it's supposed to be. The car will not engage the Starter unless if the Shifter is in Park or Neutral, which could be part of the issue, so first of all, you will have to find out what jammed your shifter in place. If there is no obvious damage, I would suggest taking the Shifter Cable off of the transmission and shifting the fork manually to Park from under the hood, then attempt to start the car again.
The location of the shifter cable, and what steps to take next would heavily depend on what model you got, as there may be different setups. For a 4th-gen ES, the common issue is the bushing that wears out between the shifter handle and the cable, causing some no start condition similar to yours, aside from some weird noises that forced the car to stall.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
