Default Question on Start Up

Hi Guys.
Please be kind as I'm not very automotively experienced.
I'm getting my Borla installed tomorrow and anticipate it will be quite loud, especially on start up.
There was a surgeon guy on the forum who removed his not long after putting it on due to having to come and go at all hours and the exhaust being too loud.
Anyway, I'd like to try and keep a good relationship with my neighbors if possible, as I also leave for early morning training sometimes.

How important is it to let the engine rev out at the higher rate while the car is starting up cold?
In the past, I have at times put the car into reverse gear soon after starting up, before the revs completely died down, but only verly slowly creep away slower than walking pace and let it continue to idle for a while after it has quietened down.
This minimizes the start up noise significantly, but at what cost?
Will this damage the engine if I do this?
If so, I'm just going to have to let it rev high on start up and be the irritating guy with the loud car, what can you do...

The higher RPM at cold start is for emissions, giving it a moment (seconds) to flow some oil is all that is needed before you drive off gently.

I considered an Apexi over the Borla due to how loud it seems, but I use the remote start from Enform and the higher RPM seems to only last for 2-3 seconds and I assume it won't be too bad past the initial few seconds. Let your car sit in the time you feel comfortable, it doesn't really get much quieter so no need to be paranoid just to save a second of noise.
