280k miles service update
At 90k I did both timing belt and water pump.
At 180k I just did timing belt.
I forgot this service at 270k mile up until now.
Both timing belt and water pump were replaced at 280k. Last few years I used hear a high pitch sound under the hood only when outside weather is humid or raining. At one point I had timing belt tightened to specs. Still that noise continued till this service. Must be the water pump. Total cost $750 at dealership.
I had been noticing some wetness/leak closer to transmission pan. Have them checked that. I was told power steering high pressure hose was leaking. OEM part $300, labor $450. Part no is 44411-06040 if any one interested.
While ordered hose part and waiting for the delivery, one morning car refused to start!. I heard clicking sound but wouldn't start. Thinking battery is dead, tried jump starting. Took few attempts to start but rpm was low, wouldn't hold and die. Confused, tried few time and then tired to hold the rpm by pressing accelerator. When I take the foot off, rpm will go down to die. Felt bit of engine shaking as well.
Turned off the key and started one more time. Everything was fine as if nothing has happened. No CEL. But checked for codes, there was one pending P0420 (sensor 1 bank1). So, decided to change air flow sensors and one oxygen sensor. Ordered the parts from Amazon (denso) and asked the dealer to look into sensor readings. They confirmed it was battery that was causing sensors to misbehave and battery needs to be replaced.
Its almost 6 years with this Diehard, I guess time for replacement. This incident goes on to show how a low voltage can cause havoc even in such low tech car like ES.

Cool, I had this happen on a client's '00 RAV4. Had the original, 17-year-old battery and was throwing O2 sensor codes and lean codes. The O2 sensor was a brand-new Denso, and there were no vacuum leaks. Replaced the battery and the chewed-up positive terminal, and all was well.
Very nice that your ES has so many miles and is running so well.

Forgot to mention, during timing belt and water pump service asked them to replace thermostat as well. OEM part no 90916-A3003. At $30, no brainer. Few months back I noticed the temperature gauge needle is not perfectly at the middle : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...ure-gauge.html . Its now !!!!

I know these gauges are not linear or perfectly accurate, but that's the way it's always been for me on these cars.
