how to dissable anti-theft
It sometimes aggravates me that if I leave my doors unlocked on my 97 ES300, when I open the door after about 1 minute, the anti-theft system activates(horn honks & kills starter). Is there a way to disable this feature? BTW, I do know what to do when this happens(unlock driver door with key), just wondering if there is a way to shut it off all-together. Thanks.

I have a 1999 es300 and I'm a little curious how this anti-theft works? Assuming my car has it.
If you leave your car unlocked, why would the system activate when its only suppose to go off when the car is locked?
Seems like a cool feature if you forget to lock your doors and leave your car. Am I missing something here?

I've never tried or done anything to the theft deterrent system but I think the Theft Deterrent ECU receives power from a ton of different circuits, like door, dome, probably ignition ecu, and possibly even the main fuse. There could be more but I haven't checked. I'll look at a diagram later to see if theres anything "easy" solution to this. I believe with a techstream you can customize the option to be longer but I'm not sure about turning it off all together.

Here are the wiring diagrams for a 1997 Lexus ES 300's Theft Deterrent System. From what I see, you'll always be getting power to the system via the 25A DOOR and 7.5A DOME fuses, although under other conditions it uses power from the Starter, Cig, and the ECG-IG fuses. Unfortunately I'm not certain on how exactly the system works, but I assume removing the fuses that power it at all times will cause starting issues. I'm not 100% certain about that though.
I can potentially think of some inconvenient/impractical methods which would basically be leaving your door open a little so it doesn't contact the switch, however, without disabling the courtesy lights, you'll drain your battery. But you can remove the 7.5A Dome fuse in order to disable the lights from draining the battery faster.
Now unsure if this holds true for the 3ES, but for the 4ES I hooked my car up to a techstream and was able to customize the delay for when the system would arm and honestly it was only but a few minutes (<5min). However, there was no option for completely disabling the theft deterrent system after leaving the car.
If you're good with electrical maybe you can see a possible alternate solution to this. If anyone would like the EWD for this, I can send it to you if you PM me your email.
