Default -Trunk led bulb--

i can't find the thread that i used years ago but i changed out my trunk led bulb to a fuse looking skinny one that has 3 leds on it..it's too dim as my tsx has 48 leds in it and lights up the whole trunk...i want to do the same but what bulb is it? can i put a panel led in there? i tried to use the one i have a 194 adapter the other night the blew a fuse in the process...

Why don't you install LED strips? Use a 5050 or 5630 SMD LED.

Here's how I did mine:

I definitely second the LED strips for the trunk. The light bulb, at least in the 4ES was located to the left and a direct swap with a bulb for an LED or panel LED had very low light improvement as half the trunk compartment was left in the dark. I took two 12" strips and extended the wires to like 2 feet and hid the wires behind the trim and came out around the middle and hid them behind a small lip and having them seen would just look tacky IMO. Maybe I'll try and post a picture later as I dont really have one of it currently.

anyone know if there's a clip that holds the trunk light in place? I was taking it out and it seems like something fell but i couldn't find it and now the light doesn't click into place...is there a metal clip that attaches to the light holder?

Anyone? I have a feeling there's metal retaining clip that must hold it in place and still might be in the trunk but with my other tools and clips I had in there I don't know what I'm looking for.

From memory I recall (on the 4th gen at least) that there might be a metal clip that holds the plastic housing into the trunk liner.

Check out 1:25 in my video when I pry it off.

Jesus. How else do you think it stays in place?!

Have you even once stepped outside, and spent like 30 secs looking at this thing?!

The bulb cover comes off; exposes the housing, carefully look for the retaining springs/metal clip, pry on it gently. In the pic below i already broke the holder off of it, since the plastic sucks.

Went from this; [junk output]

To this; the cover no longer fit, so I taped the panel into place, added some 'heat shrink' spacers around the opening so it would hold the whole assembly since i broke the clips on it for the panel to work.
Ain't the prettiest, but functionally it's as bright as day in the trunk at night, and this board has been in there since I did the first LED conversion on this forum back in 2009 i think.

Anyways, quit being lazy and just look at the damn thing first.

Ahhh shut it...Lol...I don't have much time these days. Just had a baby so he takes up a lot of time...even from your pic I don't see where a clip would go? I'm wondering if I broke it or I can find or buy one and put it on, just not sure where the clip goes...for now I jammed it in there but I want it secure. I had a 3 led dim bulb for years and just changed to a 48 panel led in my tax so I put the same in the es and its great...
