Rear Light Failure?
Hi guys,
brand new to the forum, just bought a 2000 ES and I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions in the near future. Was driving a 97 Acura RL, so I've switched over to the other side...
No dash lights on except one: the Rear Light Failure Warning light. Only one problem, I've checked every bulb back there and they all work! Anybody seen this, or is there a way to "clear" that light (disconnect the battery, I'm guessing)? Don't know if that's a familiar quirk or not; my next step would be swapping all of them out I suppose...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Did you check both license plate lights, i always miss those. If they're fine and all your lights are working but you are still getting the "rear light out" indicator you might want to try taking out all the bulbs and rubbing the connector contacts (brass colored pins) with sand paper or a small wire brush. not the contacts on the bulbs, the contacts inside the bulb connectors. I had the same problem just recently and this took care of the problem. Just a faulty connection. I hope this helps.

did you also checked the 3rd/middle brake light when the brakes are depressed??since you just bought it maybe one of the bulb could be an LED? ya i agree do take a pic with all lights on and brake depressed as well

Thanks for the help! You guys are fast...
Sooo, I was able to fix my problem; first I removed all of the back lamps and cleaned the connectors where the lamps plug in. Still had the problem. Doing this I noticed that all but one of the lamps were the original factory bulbs, quite impressive after 12 years and 136k miles! Figuring I'd need to change them all eventually, I bought a new set of bulbs and added some dielectric grease as well. Seems to work! We'll see how it goes, but at least I can drive at night without that light on the dash staring at me.

My warning light comes on in my 00 es300, but only when I hit the brakes and ONLY when the parking or headlights are on. In a different post someone said it is common in high humidity or low temp areas. I've been in Seattle for a year now so Im thinking its the humidity. The only thing I have changed recently is LED license plate bulbs. Don't think thats the problem since the light only comes on in the situation stated above.

check if any wire from your harness is being pinched by your trunk hinge,if so repair as required. other check is your lamp failure sensor which is in the trunk i think. small square box with a harness connected. check those out, maybe helpful.
