2002 ES300 Vacuum Hose Problem & p0442 CODE
The hose that connects to the center of the T fitting shown in picture has come off several time while engine is running, then the check engine light comes on. The hose is in good condition and fits on the fitting snug. I have not checked the codes yet for CEL.
I am not familiar with its specific purpose, but is there a pressure issue which results in the hose coming off ?
Why does this pop off?

I have now had the CEL code checked - P0442
I informed the mechanic about the hose coming off its fitting. He said some people put "hair spray" on the fitting then push the hose on - to keep it more secure.
He said the code is associated with the detached hose & cleared my CEL.
Good news - have driven for a day - and no CEL.
To replace this vacuum hose (apparently special tubing and comes as a set with the adjacent hoses) is over $100....
I will try the hair spray trick....

Update
After several days of driving the CEL P0442 returned. I went the cheaper route first and replaced the fuel cap with a new OEM fuel cap. Several days of driving - P0422 has returned
Any thoughts on what I should check next?

Nothing like answer your own posts. If you send me your email, I'll email you the portion from the FSM for that code 440 and 442. Mine is from an 01 so I don't know how different it will be than the 02.
If that hose keeps poping off I would use a small plastic zip tie. You can get them at wal-mart.

I find the OE lines the best, superior to silicone see this post
