Alternator Wire Harness - Severed Wire [Pic included]
Yesterday I changed my alternator belt and noticed that there was a severed wire coming from the front wiring harness on the alternator... the tape wrapped around this part of the harness appears to have been torn open, possibly from the fan blade?
Does anyone know what this yellow wire is for?

Thank you kind sir! That explains why there was no indicator when my alternator started acting up in 2005... What's the recommended repair for something like this? Will solder and heat shrink tubing work or is that no good?

In the same boat, kinda. My MKIV Supra with an Aristo swap had one wire broken to the alternator because it was so old. I was looking it over to see if there was enough to solder it back on and the other two broke off. There was not enought to solder it on. Looked at my 92 sc300 and saw that the plug looked the same, so I cut it off with enough wire and soldered it to the supra and now everything on Supra is A ok and I now I'm in need of a pig tail for the SC300 alternator and cant find it online or at parts stores, Any idea's?
