I was replacing my alternator on my car today(1jz) I disconnected the wire from the back of the alternator and as I was taking out the alternator I see the wire I just disconnected drop to the floor and when I picked it up I notice at the end of the wire it look like it was cut an taped upi try looking on the harness an couldn't find where this would connect but does anybody has a clue to where it would go
In the wiring harness there are three wires. I am not sure as to the colors but from left to right one is the IG, S, L. That is what they label them as. I know one is the ignition. and the is the one on the left...not sure about what the S and L stand for.
To determine the iginition wire (IG). You can check that you have the right wire by sticking the voltmeter prong into harness and determine that voltage is present only when the key is in the "run" poistion but not in the "accessory" position.
How many wires are in the wiring harnes currently? Those alternators should have 3 wires going into the plug....you can't tell if the wires as twisted to another one or any other signs?
