A 1 Minute Preventive Maintenance.
Here is a 1 Minute preventive maintenance that may save you hundreds of dollars in replacement outside mirror housing costs.
The outside mirror housing is designed to fold out of the way when someone or something bumps against it. Otherwise the housing would break. The problem is that with time it becomes frozen in place will will not fold freely anymore.
So to prevent this from happening, manually grab the housing, and somewhat forcefully, move it back and fourth several times until it starts moving freely as designed.
Spraying some Silicone lubricant on the exposed pivot points will also help.
