I use Tripleedge wipers on all of my vehicles. They use a tough compound, I have a set that are more than 5 years old with no dry rotting, rubber still in one piece, still works like a champ. They are not too expensive either, about $15 a set.
First time trial on rain-x brand wiper blades purchased @ the local walmart for $9.99 each. Both blades were installed in less then 30 seconds, turned the vehicle on, hit the wash/wipe function and the end result was a streak free windshield. I installed them 3 weeks ago and it's only rained once while using them but they worked flawlessly. I can't really give a review on durability since I just put them on but if they fall apart any time soon I'll reply back.
Tried both Rain X Weatherbeaters (normal spider frames) and then Bosch Icons (beam style). They both worked well at first, but the blades wore out pretty quick, maybe after about 6-8 months.
I live in Seattle, so it rains often and they see a lot of use. Went back to OEM and they wipe better and last longer than the aftermarket ones I've tried.
I hear the OEM do work very well, when I bought my ES the OEM was on and I was impressed but it wore out not long after I had them. I bought the PIAA's online and was amazed how well the water beads.
When it rains it pours sometimes in FL, so the extra money spent on them was worth it for me.
