How to disable DRL system on 2nd gen ES
Hey, does anyone have any info on how to disable the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) on the 2nd generation ('92-'96) ES300?
From what I've read on a couple of HID websites, the DRLs have to be disabled before hooking up an HID conversion kit. Otherwise, the DRLs will cause flickering and premature burn out.
Here is a quote from the XenonDepot FAQ section:

Question:
Will DRL (daytime running lights) or Auto Switch On effect the HID kit?
Answer:
For vehicles with DRL that use the same bulb for both DRL and low beam you will need to deactivate your DRL. DRL operate on reduced wattage or fluctuating current levels. This will cause the HID system to flicker and burn out prematurely. Please ensure that your OEM headlight harness is providing a constant 12V to ensure that no damage will be caused to the HID system.

Yes, I just checked. It's the high beams that are used for the DRLs. Thanks for the info. Nice to know I can go ahead with the HIDs without having to deactivate the DRLs.
