2000 ES HID lights options ?
HI guys,
I have a 2000 es and it has the stock HID I guess they are more white then the bluer look of some of the new mercedes. Can I change the bulb to make them look brighter and bluer? Has anyone done this and which bulb did they use? Can I just switch the bulb or is there more involved.

Wanna know why they look different?
The Mercedes use projector headlights, Your ES uses Reflector headlights.
Projector assemblies tend to Appear bluer due to the fact that when the light is refracted off of the cutoff shield it creates the blue/purple flicker effect as the cutoff bounces up and down in your line of sight.
Reflector assemblies cutoff is designed differently. It does not refract the light in the same way, so it doesnt give the blue/purple effect.
The bulbs themselves are most likely the same stock color temperature of 4300k in both your ES and the Mercedes, just the type of headlamp housing makes it appear different colors.
Just remember, using 6000k will give you less light output than the stock 4300k.

Yes, it will be very blue. But you will not be able to see very well. The higher the Kelvin rating, The less light output.
4300k is the kelvin rating for all stock HID systems.

You can buy Philips Ultinon D2R bulbs. They have a slightly higher Kelvin rating than a stock bulb. As said before, Stock is 4300k, The Ultinons are 5000k or 6000k, depending on whichever you go with. Personally, Id say stick to no more than the 5000k. They will be slightly bluer, without losing much light output.
