Can anyone tell me what is involved in switching to HID headlights instead of halogen? Is it a simple bulb swap or does it require rewiring and/or new parts?

In regards to your question its easy. You buy an HID kit, the HID bulb replaces the factory bulb. The bulb is connected to a small box that powers the bulb. You have to find a spot to put it and use two sided tape to keep it in place. Turn on the bulb and let it stay on for 20minutes to "Burn in".
