I installed 17" chrome wheels on my ES330. Initially, I had 215/50r17 Dunlop A2's installed, but they were a little loud and rough. I then exchanged the tires for 225/55r17 Goodyear Assurance Comforttreds. The tires are awesome. After getting the car aligned to specs, the car now drifts to the left on the freeway.
My question is directed tho those with larger wheels: Does your car track straight or does it drift to one side?
HoeBag,
I had the alignment checked twice and it's within spe. I'm beginning to think I got a few wheels that are out of round. The wheels balance fine without any vibration. This is the second set of tires on those wheels that don't track straight.
I reinstalled the 16" wheels with Michellin MXV4's and it tracks straight- even over 80mph.
I've tried air pressure, alignment, replacing the new tires with new tires and the problem is still there. I called the shop I bought them from and it sounds like they're going to take care of me and make the situation right. I'll keep you updated.
For now, no new wheels and tires, but I'll vouch for the Michellin MXV4 tires- comfortable and quiet ride. Traction seems to be decent as well.
