Default Yet another Check Engine Light question/problem...

I have a 96 ES300 with 123k and it runs perfectly. The other night I was driving over railroad tracks with my gas pretty much on E, and the CEL came on after I went over them. I called a friend of the family who is a mechanic and he asked me how fast I was going, and how much gas I had. He said that the engine could've possibly pulled air in and thought it was out of gas or something making the CEL come in. He told me to unhook the battery and then hook it back up and see if it goes off. It worked, but today it came back on. I parked it and it wasn't on, but when I left and started the car it was on. Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

Drew

usually unhooking the battery fixes mine for a few months. hmm... might want to get it checked out... maybe something shook loose?

Just go to Autozone or PepBoys and get the code read for free rather than trying to guess what it was.

Then you will know exactly where to start looking.

oh yeah......in that case read the code yourself.

go here:

http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/

the first page explains how to do it yourself. I made a jumper wire by cutting a length of small gauge wire and soldering the ends to it didn't fray but make sure the soldered wire is not so big it won't fit in the connector.

I have a '96....that might be why? He had a scanner that was rectangular while he said my port was rounded.
