Rock on the highway smashed out the glass on the fog light so I need to replace the entire housing. Does anyone have a guide or steps as to how to access the fog lights and be able to remove the entire unit from the car so I can put in a replacement? Both the glass and the light itself were destroyed.
Same thing happened to me and I replaced mine at my last oil change (since I also do tire rotations at the same time). I just got the $20 replacements off amazon (Lexus quoted me $200 for 1 lens housing) and the fit was perfect without any modifications. The above procedure is spot on.
If you’re doing both lights, jack up the entire front end, if just one side it’s best to jack up that side. You /could/ do it without, but it really just makes it a lot harder and the extra time it requires along with hating yourself, you could have just jacked it up and removed the wheels.
removing the plastic undercarriage part is also much easier if it’s not sitting on your face.
I use the Quickjack by Ranger. Prolly more than you’d want to spend to change the fog light
if you plan on doing a lot of maintenance on your vehicle(s), you should invest in a jack and jack stands. I’ll use the screw jack to get it started then switch over to a jack/stand all in one if just doing one side. Don’t forget to chock the rear wheels. You don’t want the car to roll on you.
Wanted to say thanks for this! I finally got around to replacing the light and this came in handy.
Took me a little while to get this done but it's complete, the light is working, and now I want to get one for the other side of the car because this one looks so much nicer!
