Having some steering rattling noises. My mechanic says R&P needs replacing, he's just a good, but local guy here in Clover, SC. I have not seen any threads relating to this issue and looking for some more info from the board. Car is a 2013 CT 200 with 125K. Any thoughts ??

Would you hear this noise while going over very bumpy roads? I just notice rattling coming from that area today, I hope it's not this.

 

Five, that's exactly when I hear them ! Seem to be coming from the front passenger side. You too ?? Any more thoughts about the source ?

What makes you think it's a steering rattle? Only does it when turning?

Did the mechanic put it on the lift and take the bottom engine cover off, or test drive, or just going off what you were saying about it?

 

These racks are $50-70 used all day long so even if it's that it's not the worst thing in the world. 99% sure it's the same rack in the Prius anyway. rebuilt about $110-$120. easy to replace yourself if you have tools. i doubt it's that though. you don't really hear of anything going wrong with these cars.




if anything it's either a strut mount, the strut itself, or sway bar end links. common clunk from a front end on any car.

 

Mechanic lifted it and he said the R&P needed replacing ?? It's my daughter's car and she took it to mechanic and described noise. I have not personally driven/ heard noise. Thanks for the replies. Will up date soon. B
