Default Automatic Door Lock Issues

Hello All,

I've got 2 2012 CT200h's that have started having issues with the power door locks not locking or unlocking. Started on one car, with driver door then filtered to passenger door. Now all doors. I can only open using the actual key.

The second CT just started on the drivers door so I know that the issue will cascade thru the rest of the doors. I found the post on the RX door lock fix here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...xus-rx350.html and it looks like something I might be able to handle. However-how many of the actuators do I actually need per car? Is it one per door or one per car? This is the part recommended for the RX door fix: https://www.amazon.com/Central-Actua...iglink20326-20

Thank you!

One actuator per door. Thus, 4 per car. It is the same on all Lexus vehicles. Find a post here about taking the door panels off.

Thanks I've been doing some reading on here and looks like a plan. Dealer wanted over $1K to do the diagnose and fix. Figured it well worth my time and money to try to fix it myself.

In all my years of working on cars. Fords are the worst with door lock motors. Very rare, maybe one every year with every other brand combined.

You may have other issues without actually going in and testing the actuator. Majority of the time it's the driver's door that goes first. The rest do not follow and fail so fast. It is not a Ford. My 20+ year old previa doesn't have this issue neither does my 14 year old 4 runner.

Hi Gshadow,

Granted its a guess on the actuator-but is a $11 guess plus the couple of hours its going to take me to figure out how to remove the door panel

Checked fuses and key fob before I jumped to the actuator. I can hear the difference on the doors that still work, buzz then ca-chunk when the lock engages/disengages. No buzz on the doors that dont work. First time I have ever had these fail. Other option is ordering the whole lock assembly which can be found online around $300. Hoping I can do both cars for less than the cost of one doors' assembly.

Thanks!
Don

What is going to cost $11? And if it's going to take hours to remove a door panel, then you should not do this at all. It's too screw's one behind a panel at the door handle and one in the door pull under the tiny piece of carpet. Push in the clip that's near the mirror. Remove the little triangle thing behind the mirror. Then pull towards you starting from the bottom on the door panel. Then un hang the door panel from the top. First time, it's a ten minute thing. Next time it's 1.

Go get a tech stream and read the car first before you start buying parts. Especially since you have no knowledge on disassembly.
