News this morning that CT200;s (and Prius') have a recall for airbags. They are also recalling them for faulty emissions systems.

Yikes. For the airbags, the article says CT's MADE between 2010 and 2012, so does that also include model year 2013 since they were made during 2012? Also, does that mean that Toyota/Lexus can fix the airbag and emission system problems if we bring it to the dealership or are the only addressing it?

I have a 2012 CT that is under the recall for airbags, not for emissions issue. Lexus so far has not indicated what the fix is. It just happens that I have my 75,000 mile service scheduled for Friday. I'll ask about the recall and see what they say.

If I recall (no pun intended), the recall goes to cars made until Feb 1012.

To check if your car is subject to the recall, all you have to do is enter your VIN at www.toyota.com/recall and it will advise you.

Well, the dealer told me that there are no parts for the first yet and we would be notified by mail when parts are available and to schedule a repair. In the meantime, we are all to just drive out cars as if there is nothing wrong....

Just got the first recall letter for my 2012 CT. It said wait for the 2nd letter because they don't have the part to fix it yet. Description
The involved vehicles are equipped with curtain shield air bags (CSA) in the driver and passenger side roof rails that have air bag inflators composed of two chambers welded together. Some inflators could have a small crack in the weld area joining the chambers, which could grow over time, and lead to the separation of the inflator chambers. This has been observed when the vehicle is parked and unoccupied for a period of time. If an inflator separates, the CSA could partially inflate, and, in limited circumstances, one or both sections of the inflator could enter the interior of the vehicle. If an occupant is present in the vehicle, there is an increased risk of injury.

Remedy
Lexus is currently preparing the remedy parts for this condition and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Default 2nd Takata replacement

Hi there,

I have recently taken my car to a local Lexus dealership in Sydney and when I got the car back I noticed that the wood panel in the dashboard was cracked (the one above the glovebox). They agreed to replace it.

What I then noticed is that the back cover of the driver seat (the plastic cover at the back that goes along the whole seat) was pretty much off. It was hanging by one clip. Looked as if they just tear it off, breaking other clips.

The question is - does anyone know what exactly is involved in replacing the faulty Takata airbag? Do they have to get inside the driver seat as part of the process (e.g. replace an occupancy sensor) ?

I am sure that the cover was not like this before they worked on the car.

Thanks!
