Hi,

I'm looking to buy a used 2013 CT 200h with almost 60,000 miles, which seems like a lot for just 2 years of ownership.

My question is does it really matter since this drive train is known to go beyond 200,000 miles without a hitch? Isn't it true that hybrids and high milage are not quite comparable to regular gas cars because of the battery factor?

What do you think? Is my hesitation to buy based solely on the high milage warranted?

 

Or just post your mileage (if it's 50K+) and if your experience has been basically trouble free as far as the mechanics go..

 

That is high miles for a 2 year old car but at least they are probably highway miles unless he is a Uber driver. I would check maintenance records and if it is well maintained, then it comes down to how much the car they are selling the car for. It is very reliable so your value is going to be how much you are going to pay for it and how long you are keeping it.

 

Thanks for the comment. I agree. I bought the car! I got it for $21,500. The other CT (exact same except 12k) was going for $28,000. Around $7000 savings after taxes.
It was very clean HWY miles across the country and back a few times, and the dealer completed the 60k service, new tires & floor mats
I'll keep it for about 5 years depending

I think you got yourself a good car. I drive for a living (75% highway) and have 98,500~ miles on my 1 year old 2014. I maintain it religiously and it looks and drives brand new, and have not had any significant problem or issue. I plan to keep it for as long as I do this kind of work, and I don't think it will give me much trouble any time soon.

 

Congrats, depending on the buyer [you] it's the better deal.

If I was to have a similar scenario I'd buy the high miler since it'll be cheaper, and my commute is a whole 5mins. So 60k plus my driving habits would work out to "average" in the long run despite the intial mileage "shock" that came with it upon buying it.

I have a 2013 CT200h F-sport as well and just did the 50k maintenance on it.

Haven't done a single thing (warranty wise) except for the general maintenance every 10k miles.

 

I have a 2011 CT and have over 96K miles and still runs like a champ. I change the oil and oil filter every 5K miles with 0W-20 oil. I want to see how far I can take my CT 200h...

For those of us who lease the CT, those mileage amounts sound so high!

What kind of jobs do you do that puts that many miles on it so quickly? I just went from a 2013 CT lease to a 2015 CT lease, and I'm sure I will be sweating the miles when the time comes. Haha.

 

My 2012 CT has over 110,000 miles on it and zero problem. I am kind of regrading getting the 120,000 miles extended warranty when I got the car LOL.

 

Seriously. The person leased the car for 1 year and 8 months, so he averaged over 30k a year. I have evidence he drove across the country. But it's just 3000 miles across the country, so you need to make about 18 cross country treks in that time! Must haves paid dearly in exces miles! Maybe an account man/woman meeting clients in smaller town all across the nation....

I learned that you can always turn the car in early if you're going to go over the miles, but you have to pay the remaining lease payments. I'm not sure in all markets, but in my leases, it was $0.25 each mile you were over, so that would add up pretty quickly.

 

Wow, some of you guys put in a lot of miles in a short period, good to hear that its been trouble free, regular maintenance is key.

Since this thread is alive again, I'll update that I do not lease my CT (I'd be broke with my annual mileage), and that I am now past 125k on my 2014. While I have had no problems with my car, and maintaining it very well, I am now on 20k+ oil change intervals thanks to oil analysis reports and using Mobil 1's 15k oil and filter. I should be able to go a lot longer between oil changes still and am testing that at the moment. Helps a lot with running costs for driving 130k per year.

I'm on my second set of tires now, and still on my original brakes.
