Default First issue with the new CT!

Ok, it is not all that bad...

After two weeks of ownership I decided to wash and wax the CT. As I waxed the front of the car I noticed some flaking silver stuff on the bumper. upon closer inspection I saw the "Chrome" was pealing off the chrome/plastic trim above the emblem.

I called the dealer service center and was told no problem bring it in and we can have it inspected and fixed in two days. Unfortunately, the dealer is 200 miles from home. Suddenly a simple trim piece is going to cost two days away from home. Not exactly what I was hoping for.

I wonder if my upgraded warranty is going to pay for my hotel?

Damn. What kind of car wash were you using? lol j/k

I've never heard of the chrome peeling off like that on any of the Lexus model's that have that kind of grill though. Interesting...the worst that has happened to mine was a little dent in the 'chrome' from a rock....and it still didn't chip the coating off either lol.

Glad the dealership is gonna take care of it for you though. 200 miles of driving definitely sucks....is there not another dealership closer by? Any dealership should be able to take care of this for you. Or is the nearest dealership seriously 200 miles away? lol

Yes, unfortunately the closest dealer is 200 miles away.

It is interesting the way it is coming off. As it peels off it curls up and looks like a needle. The finish under the exposed area is almost black chrome. Perhaps I should wipe all the chrome off and sell the new black chrome one to the guys who like the black out look...

I will talk with the service manager tomorrow to see what he can do.

I would ask the dealer if I could send him a picture of the defective piece. Then he could order the right part and have it in stock when you arrive. That eliminates an overnight stay.

My CT is 15 months old and has spent a winter in the Northeast without any peeling. Got to be a defective part.
