Default Cloudy Chrome Trim

The chrome trim around one rear window is hazy or more like milky. It's not perfectly clear like the other side. It has been this way since I got the car, and each time I clean the car, I get upset about it. I never mentioned it to the dealer, because I don't want to make a pest of myself. Is this something easily rectified? Anyone have a guess as to why the chrome would be that way in the first place? Thanks.

Have you tried to use some polish / wax on it to see if it comes clean?

Yes, I have tried to clean/polish it. It got no better, and no worse. It's definitely a defect in the chrome.
