If you're in a rush, shop around and be flexible
Newbie here...
I went down to the dealer yesterday to put a deposit down and order a CT. Having previously test driven the car the day it was released in CA, I was torn between the practicality of the Prius or the fun driving of the CT.
The sales rep previosuly mentioned the scarcity of cars and the need to be flexible if I wanted one soon (I looked in a 200 mile radius and could not find any). When I got there, they had just found out that they'd been allocated two cars, one of which to be used as a demo driver, so if I was willing to bend, I could choose one of the two. As mentioned earlier in this thread, Lexus has pulled employee cars (read: cars for Lexus/Toyota executives) and have allocated them for client delivery.
Long story short, I signed yesterday and the car arrived today at the dealership. I'll be going to pick it up soon.
The one thing I didn't like was that on the west coast, its hard to get the premium sound without the Nav...but I guess its better than waiting an indefinite amount of time.

This is the information the sales manager gave me. I special ordered a CT and the salesman called me a few days later and told me they had one coming in that had almost everything I wanted. I am taking that one to avoid the long wait.
The sales manager explained how the factory took orders and built the cars in cycles. My cycle was going to be 16 weeks and that was before the earthquake.
