We currently have a 2012 ct with 113k miles as we are the orignal owners. The car has been great, and problem free. We are looking to buy our son a ct and stumbled upon a 2012 that looks to be in pretty good condition for $7000, however it does have 234k miles on it. It's a little concerning about the mileage, however historically our ct has been trouble free. I'm concerned about the battery but from what I asked my uncle that works as a mechanic for Toyota, he says you can't really tell if the battery goes bad or not. It's either the car will run or it won't. What do you guys think? Should I skip to find another lower mileage car or give this a go?

 

Nowadays, you can hook up to the car's OBD2 port with a phone app like Dr. Prius to tell what the condition of the hybrid battery is.

 

Look for a 2015+ for yourselves and give your son the 2012 You'll get the updated engine this way.
