Default Paint Shield - Turning Yellow

The paint shield on the front hood and side mirrors is going yellow. I assume the dealer will replace for free? Has anyone dealt with this?

Is your car white by chance? I had the same thing happen (different make) on a past car and they had to paint it twice as the car was under warranty. I havent owned a white car since.

can you post any pics for us??

Not sure we're talking about the same thing. I got the thin film protectant on the front part of the hood. It's like plastic. When they first put it on is was barely noticeable. Now it is clearly evident of the color difference.

Are you talking about Clear Bra? It should not yellow. A lot of reputable clear bra companies will warranty against that stuff. Take it back.

sorry i thought you meant your paint. Yes that stuff will/can turn yellow. I had it happen on one of my TL's. You need to take care of that stuff just like your paint. Take it back to who installed it and see if they will replace it. My guy took care of me and did mine for free.

Should be covered because the film has a "Lifetime" warranty to fading/discoloration. Umbra does "clear bra". He's local as well (In schaumburg)

Often times in vinyl application, the oils bake out of cheaper films and thus, discoloration. In paints such as white that contain a "Flex Agent", this is very common.

The dealer (Lexus of Palatine) put it on. I remember the service manager saying "those things can go 10 years without turning yellow". What a freakin idiot.

I will be getting it replaced and will ask to throw in the free activation of my replacement ebay FOB.
