Default Thinking....

What goes through my fellow Chicago guys' heads when they think of getting rid of their car and moving onto a new project?

I've been debating lately of moving onto something new, but I have no idea what I want to get Plus I feel guilty whenever the thought even pops into my head of selling the GS...I love my car! Plus I know, well besides you guys, that nobody will ever take as much care of the car as I have.....

What do you guys think I should do?? Is there anything out there worth looking into? IS?

ok, I'll ask this - what is it your looking for in your next car? More sport? More luxury? More utility?

Yes, until you get this answered its hard to know what will make your next move a happy one.

Fair question...It's hard to explain, but I kind of want something all around...sporty, economical, fun......right now I drive my old accord if I have to go somewhere far or drive to school after work; leaving the garage queen at home. For that reason I was thinking about getting rid of the accord too and just have one car....

Something like a TL-S or a IS250?

I'm also thinking manual over auto.....

Go for the IS350. Perfect daily driver. If driven properly it can obtain a 25 mpg avg. On the highway at 55 mph cruise you can get 35 mpg. Plus it is a very fun car.

Really?? I didn't think the mileage was that good....

How about prices? What can I get a used one for?

Vik, 55 on the highway...are you even touching the gas, not to mention avoid getting rear ended by some grandma? I find it difficult to stay below 70 with my car and i've got the AWD 250 maybe my foot is just heavy .

Another question for the original poster. Do you want AWD, RWD, FWD?

Wherever I drive there is construction. It is very easy to drive 55. Especially when I am tired as fo0k.

Not sure, but they hold their value very well.

If you are going to get the IS then the IS350 is the way to go!

I had several TL's in the past and I suggest you stay away! You wont be happy. Its a nice looking car and the TLS has some kick..but FWD vs. RWD, the quality is not that good on the TL. I was in the shop all the time with my car. I had a TL, TL-S, TL-Aspec, ect....so I had them all for business cars. My buddy owns the Acura dealer if you want one I can help out. I just wont ever get one myself.

I have an 07 IS350 and its worth 37500. I was parting ways with my car till just recent. It all depends on options. that is private party. dealers are selling my car for close to 40k.

all depends on what you really want. how about the 335i BMW or the Audi S5?

Well then i would say go with the 350. I know i would have if the ole lady didnt insist on getting the AWD. Also keep in mind that the TL is being redesigned and will be out this fall.

Hey Mike....wow that's all new to me about the TL...I didn't know they were having quality issues. I drove the new TL-S a couple months ago and I agree with the FWD...sucks. Any rumors of the 09 coming out with the RL and MDX AWD system...seems like a no-brainer to me. As for price, I have to stay reasonable...I'm 26 and just bought a bachleor pad last Fall so I don't have loads of free cash flow...yet

I'd like to keep from having any car payments or tapping into savings....that leaves me with the question of how much I should ask for the GS. I was thinking 20 firm would be fair...

well between rattles, tans problems, and a few other things. I know the owners of the dealer and the Techs. They where always honest with me and I went through many trans in those cars. I had the headliner fall down on me...it was coming in the 05/06 year TL Its a shart car for the $$ but since i have owned them they have gone up. I think the TLS new is close to 40k? To me the car isnt worth it! Get the IS or something else IMO.

I never got on forums in the past or stuck around but get on any of the Honda/Acura boards and post to see what they say about trans problems. I was at an event where an exec from Acura stood in front of us and appologized about the problems with the trans. I want to say in 04 maybe or 03 they tried to run a oil line to gear #2 and thought they had fixed it haha...2 more trans in that car after that.

I had Acura by my lease from me and gave me a few $$ towards the TL-Aspec! Guess what...12k miles then trans was a goner

If you want an Acura the TSX, MDX, RSX, & RL are all good strong cars. The new TSX is probably around your budget and its the size of the TL. My buddy that owns the dealer told me the new TSX is the old TL and the TL is going to replace the RL as the flagship car since the RL does so poorly in the US market. If you want to go with an Acura hit me up and I will get you with the owners to help you out

Mike

I would get a coupe, Something like the G or Z. You can go nuts on those cars since they have been out for a while. I drive a four door because I have to.....get a coupe while you can.

Steve...you buy a TL. I will make sure to sign you up for the Gender Reassignment Program at Rush.

But I will buy your parts before you get rid of your GS.
Get the IS350 and stick around.

TL...are you high???
