Question IS350/ chicago winter...

How does the IS350 handle the chicago snows with winter tires [blizzaks...etc] being RWD?

I'm haggling over whether to get the 250 but with different wheels, 3GS 5 spoke, or the 350 and getting separate winter tires...plus liking some of the options not available on the 250..

worth it?

Thanks.

With Blizzaks it handles really great. I had some seriously fun drives in my IS350 with the Blizzaks. I used the regular wheels, just had the tires switched.

It is just fine... no problems at all as long as you have winter tires.

Its fine if you are a RWD car driver and content with it. I had no issues with the snow tires on my car. I sent you a PM in response to yours. I understand your concern and couldn't agree more! Let me know if you have more questions.

Where about in STC are you? I have a place in Geneva and used to live in both St Charles and Geneva. Nice area...Randall road is soooooo crazy now!

As I stated in the main forums, I swear by the Continental Extreme Contacts and the Shark-Fin technology. I used them for 4 years on my gen 1 IS300 driving in really bad weather. Now I have swapped the OEM Dunlops on my AWD with them and never felt the traction or ABS since. It is a great all season "Z" rated tire and does not have bad road noise.

My IS350 kicked *** in the winter w/ the blizzaks. Super fun to drive, handled really well. I used the winter tires put on my OEM wheels. I can't wait to play in the snow w/ my IS-F.

I too have an IS 350 like Kaplan did. I got the Blizzak tires in the same size as my 18" summer Potenza tires and used the same stock rims and had no issues with it in the winter. So with some winter tires on the car, you should be fine.
