The reason I said what I said is that on paper the Polestar should lose but getting a good launch using BMWs launch control is hit or miss (plus to be honest I thought the polestar did 3.7 0-60 until you showed the stat even though it looks like Amirza got that time). After 70mph is bye bye but launching an EV is just more consistent. It will certainly be interesting and I can’t wait to see the result.
He has the G80 M3 Comp RWD. Hopefully we will all be meeting up end of September. Same friends house where I reviewed the i4. Roads are pretty bad out there...which gives me advantage at launch
We're about to drive the refreshed Polestar 2. What do ya wanna know about it?
"Mechanically, there have been some more substantial changes. Polestar says new batteries and motors front and back are responsible for a 20 percent further driving range which is now up to 300 miles per the EPA, nine percent more efficiency, and a 34 percent better charging time. Not too shabby. The single-motored Polestar 2 is now powering the rear wheels, rather than the front on the old car with 299 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. Those are both healthy numbers, especially when you compare them to the 2023 which made 231 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. They also drop the 0-60 time down to 5.9 seconds. The single motor car will also give you the 300 miles of the range we mentioned earlier out of a larger, 82 kWh battery that can charge at 205 kW DC"
"Changes are also coming to the dual-motor variant which Polestar says will have a strong rear-drive bias than before. The power unit now puts out a combined 421 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. It’s again a pretty substantial improvement over the outgoing car’s 408 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. Because of those power improvements, 0-60 is now dispatched in just 4.3 seconds, according to Polestar"
@AMIRZA786 not sure if I read it here or in the other forum, but did you ask about battery degradation during your scheduled service? my range at 90% has gone down to 220 miles

Yes, battery is fine according to them, estimated degradation is 1 to 2 percent. I think the latest software update now estimates range based on your last driving style, AC usage etc. I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I wouldn't worry about this and more base your range on SoC percentage rather than estimated range. On my Model Y, you can display either estimated range or percentage, and I set it to percentage
Polestar 2 gets new motor and battery for MY24 refresh, and it’s a winner
It's faster, more efficient, and a lot more fun to drive
DENVER—A car's midlife refresh is, more often than not, a mostly cosmetic affair—new light clusters or a changed front fascia, perhaps a new interior. Truth be told, the styling tweaks to the model year 2024 Polestar 2 are subtle—you might notice new wheel designs, and the ersatz front grille has been replaced with a body-colored panel. Instead, Polestar concentrated on tweaking the bits you can't see, making the car more efficient and, in the case of the cheaper, single-motor version, a lot more fun to drive, too.
When Polestar first launched the Polestar 2 in 2020, it did so with a dual-motor all-wheel drive version, followed by a more affordable single-motor model. Although the more expensive, more powerful version was faster, as is often the case with electric vehicles, I found the supposedly lesser car the one to go for. It's this version that has had the most attention paid to it in the refresh, most notably the fact that its single motor now powers the rear wheels, not the front.
An offer from Polestar if I get out of my lease and into a new one:
Since this is a direct offer from Polestar, What you see is What you get, no BS from a dealership trying to lure you in only to pull the rug out. Very tempting, but most likely end of my Polestar lease in Jan 2025 I'll be trading it in for a Model 3 Performance. I may for the hell of it request a test drive since they bring the car to you.
It looks like for both ICE and EV alike, leasing is the next "thing" in 2023/2024. I'm getting crazy emailed lease offers from Honda, Toyota, Lexus and Hyundai
Got this text from Volvo Palo Alto, the dealership that serviced my Polestar a couple of weeks back:
I was curious what they were offering, and it's pretty much laughable. $27K for a $50K car I bought not even two years ago. Plus if I terminated the lease, I would owe $38K. Clowns
nice. i just got an email back from a sales droid at my hyundai dealership telling me an ioniq 5 limited will lease for $800 a month. he's delusional.
That's just insane. For the limited, $500 a month would be the max. I think each dealership just makes it up as they go along, one my friends who lives in the East Bay which is about 30 miles from us, their local dealership was asking $5K down and $400 a month for the same exact Ioniq 5 I lease (SEL AWD). I referred him to my sales guy, he drove down to San Jose and got pretty much the same deal I got here
