Default Tesla prices increased across its entire model range

The increases are between $2,000 and $6,000

Unannounced price increases are common at Tesla (and increasingly from other automakers) these days. The latest one took place overnight 6/15/22-6/16/22 as Tesla bumped up the asking prices of various versions of each of its models by between $2,000 and $6,000. Here's a rundown.

Tesla Model 3:

Tesla Model Y:

Tesla Model S:

Tesla Model X:

Those watching closely or considering shopping for a new electric vehicle may already know that the Tesla Model S and Model X already saw major price increases earlier this year. It wasn't long ago that Tesla charged as little (comparatively) as $69,420 for the Model S. As you can see from the latest increases noted above, the cheapest Model S now costs over $100,000.

No reason has been provided for the across-the-board pricing increase, but it's no secret that raw materials prices and shipping costs (partially due to high fuel costs) have skyrocketed over the course of the year.

They have the Disney problem. Disney kept increasing ticket pricing hoping that it would curb demand on their parks. People complained up and down but kept buying tickets. In theory, if they keep raising prices, demand = supply...doesn't seem that they've reached that threshold yet. They kept pricing steady on the Plaid. The Plaid is a deal now

It has nothing to do with quality control, prices of raw materials are going up every gd damn month. I'm in construction business, this nonsense has reached absurd levels, most consumers have no idea how bad things really are.

$70,000 for a Model Y is absurd.

I feel the competitors are now much better options given how expensive its gotten. My EV6 was ~$55k and with tax credits, only high $40k. $20k is a pretty big difference.

Get used to it, competition products will go up too, especially with dealer markups. Heavy raw materials for the most part have doubled and tripled. Other things like computer chips are even worse.

A couple more years, and cars are no longer going to be affordable for the middle class.

The Middle class has been crunched, stomped on, and priced out long time ago. The economy has been bad in the past and it recovered, it will recover again. The market will set prices, Tesla will either continue to sell their cars at higher prices and people will buy them or not buy them, or they will go to the competition

The only way the competition can undercut Tesla is if they get some sort of government subsidies, like Ford has been getting lately, but from all their recalls lately things are not working out very well for them.

Perhaps Mr Musk is taking advantage of the gas prices and Tesla's reputation as the best EVs out there?

Nobody is taking advantage of anything, we had 100% inflation over the last 2 years, in the USA we are still relatively lucky as cars are still more or less affordable compared to the rest of the world. It will continue getting worse.

rwd model 3 is a good deal still at 47K. Friend bought one earlier this year and Im surprised how much I like it, even with the quality issues. He told me full self driving can be added after purchase at $200 a month, which makes it a good deal if you dont plan on keeping your Tesla more than the usual 3-5 years.

The best deal is still the Performance models. Low $60k will get you a sports sedan that will get 0-60 in 3s. For comparison, that is about the cost of an M340 or Lexus IS500.
