You should stick with Michelins on your Benz. Listen to Steve Pitbull, he owns the best independent Mercedes shop I know. He discussed Pirellis at around 2:10

Do they even make PSS anymore...those are old. I think they are on PS4S now.

Nope, just bought them last week and installed on my daughters M2 earlier today. They are specific to the car as OE equipment, tirerack lists them as Michelin Pilot Super Sport Star BMW XL

For the SUVs they have PS4 Suv.

Just realizing that I bought OE PSS for the M2, but they also have the PS4 as well, same price, just doesn't have the OE mark. Oh well.

They are badass, NEVER had an issue with them honoring any warranty or issues.

In answer to your question and hilariously enough on theme with other responses I snaked out all the cars sunroof drains since I have a complex surrounding the sunroofs leaking ever since the RX had a slight leak requiring me to pull the whole headliner and most of the greenhouse trim off to re-secure and clean everything. Probably fine since that car was clearly driven on beaches at some point in it's life based on the sheer amount of sand in EVERYTHING I took off that also clogged the drains but I am seriously paranoid about it now so I do it once a year for all cars as well as conditioning the seals. I never open any of mine

I will watch that. Issue is I like a soft, quiet tire and Michelin doesn't have anything great. Another choice is the Continental DWS06...but I have heard they can be kind of loud...

I was VERY happy with the many sets of Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS Plus and Plus II I had on my LS460s, but they don't come in a size wide enough for the rears (275s)
The DWS is quieter IMO than the PSAS4, the PSAS have a sound over some road protrusions that is vaguely like a dodgeball being spiked into the ground but like 1/20th the volume, it's still noticeable though. They are also somewhat hard/direct but nothing like say...an F1 Asym3/4/5 or PSS. The DWS has a little more static hum but nothing that you can actively pick out, I have the PSAS4s on most of the cars since I like their overall performance and they have a clear edge in snow so I never have to worry if I get caught in something.

You know how I drive so I'll just say the PSAS4 matches up damn well 95% of the time, my other favorite is the Goodyear Eagles since the steering feel is amazing but they kind of suck for lifespan, NVH, and snow will kill you.

Pilot super sports are well above the pilot sports, the PS4s is NOT being replaced by the PS5.....the "S" suffix indicates its the extreme performance/hasher version of the summer tire vs the PS5 just being the normal next gen summer tire. The PS4 and 4s have different goals and the 5 and 5s will also follow this pattern.

The super sports are full on borderline track only tires that are still road legal. They are amazing but wear out insanely fast (under 10k miles) and in many cases people prefer the Goodyear counterpart for steering feel on track.

Oh I'm quite familiar with the Pilot Super Sports, being that I'm on my fifth set of rears and third set of fronts. I get about 15k and 25k miles, respectively. Tread warranty is 25k unless you run staggered like I do.

You are right about the trailing S on the PS4 and PS5 designating the PSS successors. I hadn't looked that closely since I won't need a new set until next year (don't drive anywhere near what I used to), and did remember people replacing warn out PSS for PS4, so I had just assumed up to this point.

Not trying to be a contrarian, but I recently replaced my tires on my S2000 with PS4S, and though good, I found my older RE171's much stickier and overall better tire for this car. It shouldn't be too surprising considering the tread wear rating difference. With that said, the PS4S is pretty amazing considering the much longer life I'll get out of them compared to the RE171's.

Actually I screwed up terms in my head a little, for some reason I equated the PSS as being the Pilot Cup 2s for whatever reason lol! I have no idea why I crossed those.....yes the PS4s is the successor to the PSS but the normal PS4/5 is not.

The Pilot cups are the ones I was referring to in my head that wear out stupid fast and are used commonly on track. Sorry lol!

Oh for sure. I had the sunroof drains get clogged in my ES300 a while back and all the carpeting had to be torn out and dried, terrible.

Tire wear depends a lot on the weight of the car, awd/fwd/rwd, and driving style. On my daughters 2018 M2 they lasted for four years and 31k miles - out of these about 15k/2 years are mine, and 15k/2 years are hers. They looked like they easily had another 10k in them, I just decided to replace because she is visiting us in NY, and there are rumors of coming tire shortages. On a relatively light car with front wheels steering and rear wheels driving tires last a lot longer than heavy AWD SUVs. My wifes X6M is 1.5 years old with about 10k on the clock, and the tires are close to where I would normally replace them, maybe another 2k and I'll get new ones.

Oh, another benefit of FR setup, front and rear tires wear out evenly. On FWD and AWD cars front tires usually wear out a lot faster.

Yeah I still have 5/32nds of tread left, but the fronts are shot on the shoulders because they can't be rotated.

Yeah the Cup 2s and the even more aggressive Cup 2Rs are crazy sticky and wear out really fast. The 2Rs are so sticky they can ruin your paint, because they pick up all the little rocks on the road, and then throw them against the body later when you drive fast enough to dislodge them. 5-10k seems to be about normal wear for Cup 2s, 2Rs are anywhere from 1-3k.

I don't need anything near that extreme for my little oil burner.

I learned that MB's standard Navi does not show speed limits.

That seems a little odd. Are you sure the feature is not turned OFF?
