The Miata's not fast either. But that and the BRZ/FRS/GT86 are among the best sports cars you can get for under $100k.
Absolutely. An excellent sports car does not have to have NHRA 0-60 or quarter-mile times. Have you ever driven a Miata, Margate? If not, check one out, and I think a smile will come to your face.
but the way it's not that fast is actually very fun... it's almost like an S2000 (but a bit slower) with how the power is all the way up in the revs and you need to actively work the gears and be mindful of what you're doing to get any performance out of that boxer engine
when i worked at the toyota dealership years ago some kid with a basic camry came in interested in the BRZ or a 350Z but was worried the BRZ would be too slow, after taking one out (BRZ) for 10 minutes he goes nah i can't get this i'll be getting too many speeding tickets! yes the on paper specs don't make it look so appealing but it's such an engaging car to drive and it really rewards being pushed to the limit in corners, which is definitely not so true of the average corolla lol
my mercedes for instance is extremely fast but not very sporty at all, and by the time you start really having fun you're often already in license suspension territory lol (and you've just burned like a gallon and a half of fuel in those short moments)... something like the BRZ gives the feeling of a great well sorted little sports car and real manual shifting without having to risk the driver's license or bank account

That's some high marks.
I was thinking it looked too nice to be a total dog. Lol

Yes, and the Miata was not a fast car but it was fun.
I think I understand what you all are saying

Yeah, I see what you're saying.
There's sporty doesn't necessarily have to be "fast".
Need to DRIVE it to get the feedback and feel the car.
At the time it was built, it was one of the most technologically advanced sports cars in the world. Twin-Turbo, All-Wheel-Drive, four-wheel-steering, folding hard-top, ABS, traction-aids...even a driver-adjustable exhaust-note.

Back in the day I was under the impression the Dodge Stealth version of this car costs more money, is this true?
No. The base 3000GT was $3,000 more than the base Stealth--$20,417 vs. $17,523. For the top-end models, the Stealth R/T Turbo started at $29,595, while the 300GT VR4 started at $31,768.
I think a little bit of that difference might have been equipment, but the vast majority was the more elaborate body cladding of the Mitsubishi version.

Yes, the 3000GT VR4 offered more standard and optional equipment than the equivalent Stealth Turbo, which accounts for the lower price.
Actually, I thought the Stealth was somewhat better-looking than the 3000....its minor styling differences, to my eyes, were a little more handsome.
Perhaps it is not surprising that Mitsubishi (who provided the platform) would not allow Dodge to offer all of the 3000 GT's features......it would have been even more of a competitor to 30000 GT sales that what it turned out to be.
