But spending is needed to spur the economy. Honesty, the $800 gas card for me is completely meaningless and won't do a single thing for my spending habits like many luxury car owners. Just doesn't matter. But for a lot of the working labor force, it's difference between having food on the table and not and that is why they are doing this. I would argue the vast majority of consumer spend isn't at the lower income levels. It's at the upper middle tiers that can afford expensive iPhones and can afford high end luxury cars every 3 years.

So it's just THAT easy to solve income disparity??? I didn't know that.

You can't afford gas - so buy a different car; or go to work less so you use less gas. C'mon now.

But people actually are. That is just it. There are too many people who haven’t slowed their spending. In Canada for example, the stats just came up. People are spending MORE $$ even though prices are up. Raise interest rates high enough, and the spending will slow and thus inflation will stop. All the supply chains will all just get back in line with demand

By all means, do all of that but the relief on gas is to help the lower income out. So no, it's not a bad idea especially when just a little bit of relief is meaningful to them. One thing that should be instituted is an income cap but I think it's too hard to do logistically.
