I know the market is crazy now, but I think I found an LS400 for sale that takes the cake. Asking price is $35k and the car has 86k miles. Below is the listing description:

Worth it to me.Rare piece of japans finest work was the 98-99 Kaizen quality.Sending spies to Laguna beach California to see what the wealthy was driving. The result was the S class Mercedes-Benz.That’s why it has some body features of the S.Japan invest almost half a billion on the model and engine that they lost money.Which was great to hear for the person to own one. They achieved the best. I know it was worth it to do so.To the immature adults. If you can’t afford it stick to a car that’s fits your budget. No kid comments necessary. For the serious buyers.Call preferred than text before we meet.Cash with be in hand before test driven. No tire kickers.I dislike having to put some guidelines down before but this is necessary for the seller and buyer to find common ground before even messaging and calling me.Thank you."
I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the price. It became hysterical laughter once I clicked the link and read the description above. Look, I know we're free to ask whatever we feel something is worth, but this is beyond. Maybe a 5k mile showroom 99 LS400 could fetch $35k on an auction site like BaT, but this ain't that. What would you pay for this?
Maybe 8-11k USD? Definitely asking way, way too much.
But .... it's rare, it's been serviced by top-tier shops, and it's got a back-up camera installed and all weather mats for Pete's sake! Why would you spend $35K on a much newer LS, when you can have this "rare" vehicle????
For what he's asking, a V12 Rolls from around the same era will get you more attention and serenity than an LS400. And it's a V12, with connections to snooty English royalty to boot. You could even do an Uber or something with it
Here's another one and this is what a Lexus dealer is actually asking. Saw it in on the showroom floor yesterday. KBB doesn't even go back to 1990, a 1992 LS400 with this mileage has a trade-in value of about $2K $17K 1990 LS 131K Miles
is it just me? Or does it look like it’s riding higher in the front than rear? I personally like to see cars that were factory perfect and the seller doesn’t list off all the work it needed to be sellable.
Seems like the “rare color combo” moniker is always attached to the least desirable colors when new and usually still not very attractive with age, and i don’t know how any seller can honestly expect a buyer to pay more for less desirable looks. I would think A black on black with “very popular color combo” is probably going to more valuable but i have never seen that phrase in a used car ad. I am surprised he didn’t include some production numbers to prove his point?
