You just said it wasn't on the same level as the LS in fuel economy, how many more goalposts will you keep moving?

As a car on its own merits? Possibly. When brand and prestige come into play no.

If the car is good enough….the brand and prestige catch up.

If the engine is better, in all specs and efficiency if the engine is better, as well as performance…then Genesis has exceeded the competition. If it the engine is behind, the brand will continue to trail

Lexus is not anywhere near the S class or A8 or 7 series. They lack V8s

Prestige is a huge part of buying this kind of car, and most people who are German sedan buyers won’t consider the G90, regardless of whether or not it might be objectively superior.

that is correct. But Genesis will never get there, unless they have the product that is clearly superior to those that have the prestigious status. And it starts with the heart of the vehicle….the powertrain.

Lexus has still never gotten there. They don’t need to necessarily.

so it's hit or miss.

and there is no objective way an ls500h has a better 'score' than a new g90.

and doug didn't even get the model year right for the g90,

he's a brand snob, that's his perogative.

Or parts network....or aftermarket....or tuning....or material quality....or chassis design....

Of all the 6 cyl "flagships" I would get the BMW first then the Mercedes since the B58 is the clear dominant engine in the group. The others are all second fiddle but if we remove the engine as a factor S-class all day.

If we allow the 8s into the picture/only look at real flagships I would go with the EA825 then Mercedes

They went backwards, they were right there in the early 2000s then proceeded to screw it up.

Yup, aftermarket and tuning, just what your average flagship sedan buyer looks for.

You would be shocked. A lot of the German guys do indeed day one tune their cars, why don't you go over to their forums sometime?

That's why a lot of tuning houses offer stock matching warranties for stage one tuning. Many of these guys have a few toy cars and a boat to daily

Engines…nowhere close. Mercedes, Audi and BMW all furthered themselves with their V12/W12 options way back in the 1990s. Lexus can’t command the same prices as the Germans.

but back to G90…they really could have put the brand on a pedestal if they put a V8 in the new G90…heck..imagine a V12. Genesis can’t be a S580 if don’t offer a V8
