Default Best place to get your oil changed?

2014 IS250 AWD…where do you guys get your oil changed? I’m over 60, and don’t have the resources myself, and please don’t direct me to the stealership…I don’t want to pay $200+.

I was thinking about these Fast Lubes, Valvoline, Quick Lube, etc.

My local Valvoline quoted $107 for 6.8 qts of 0-20w, 100% synthetic, plus filter, but only said their oil and filters are “house brand”.

I suppose my main concern is oil and filter quality.

How about a good independent shop in your area? They're out there.

I'd checkout local shops, as for me, there are a few places that'll change change the oil/filter that I supply for $15.- $20. I like supplying my oil & filter...

Definitely bring your own oil and filter.
Go to a shop where you can watch them do the oil change. Should be $50 max for labor.

I normally use the dealer. Both current cars have 3 year maintenance included and when those run out if I still have them, I'll look for specials.

I do dealer as well for my two newer cars. But for my older cars we go to an independent. I don’t really have anything against dealers, I enjoy going for the most part. Sometimes you get to see all the new cars

I’ve contacted 2 local shops, both declined the work with customer supplied material.

As long as they use good quality filters and oil you should be OK. Look for reviews to get an overall idea of what customers have said about each.

I would use a local independent and bring your own oil and filter.
Then when something bigger comes up, they know you and the car.

A dealership, IMO, is only slightly better than a quickie lube for oil services.
If you lived around here, I would do it for you.

Good luck.

I do my own in my driveway. Hell I’d change another CL members for 40 bucks though, lol. Maybe you can find a member near you who would as well?

I took my Lexus cars to a great independent mechanic, he used my supplied oil and filter no problem, but I've had a long history with him. The Pacifica I take to a very good quick lube place down the street. They do a great job, have cameras you can watch what they're doing. In my experience that is no cheaper than a mechanic or even a mainstream dealership, but its very quick and easy.

You could take it to Toyota if you want a cheaper service than Lexus and a dealership experience. But, a synthetic oil change is going to cost +/- $100 wherever you go. Lexus dealership will be more, but not quite $200 just for an oil change.

My Mercedes I need to figure out where to take it. The 10k service at the dealer was $680, so I wont be doing that again. I may just take it back to the guy who always did my Lexuses.

I used to do the oil changes myself with my RX300, but given certain conditions and where I live, I take it to a small garage at a gas station near where I live. I bring my own oil and filter for my CT200h and the mechanic charges me $20 while I watch. Helping local small businesses helps.

You list your home as Ohio. Normally, the cost of an oil change is decided by the hourly labor rate and Ohio is usually a normal rate. Had mine changed at Cincinnati dealer last week and it was $69.95 plus tax using Lexus recommended components. I question how much cheaper you are going to find it with this level of confidence in the results?

Those who wish to bring your own goods to the mechanic to use doing the oil change...do you also bring your own steak to the restaurant?

Any restaurant worth it's salt will state on the menu the cut, age, and grade of the beef that is offered. That is not what is happening with the OP.

If you went to a restaurant, would you order a steak that is described only as "house brand"? I doubt it.
