Default 2022 Mercedes S-Class

Mercedes interiors are some of the best - there's something next-level about them. The outgoing S-class interior is top of class - visually, quality-wise etc..

But the new one just seems rather tacky to me and looks like something modded at your local shop -

I didn't see the screens in the new S class working. But the interior design and all the bits and parts are a work of art IMO. Seeing it in person is something.

My first reaction on seeing that interior was clowns at the circus.

I think the new S-class is exactly more restrained and modern looking. The outgoing S-class for comparison:

I don't see anything at all wrong with the new interior and I doubt that will cost the S Class very many sales.

I agree. Mercedes knows its S-Class customers. You can bet your bottom dollar that this new interior got through more actual customer focus groups than you can shake a stick at. And it's dangerous to make judgments based on pictures. They rarely do interiors justice, and they can't convey material quality nor the actual ambience/experience of being in the actual car.

Totally agree. People focus on the ambient lighting which can be selectively dimmed, turned off, and can change colors.

They don't know and don't care about their customers, the customers don't have much choice. Go to BMW or anyone else, and its the same type of garbage. But I may be wrong, perhaps majority of people are amused by these cheap gimmicks.

I agree, nothing novel, just copying from Tesla and Studio 54.

The new interior is just okay to me. I really don’t like the tacked on guard cluster. I still like the clean look of the previous S class dashboard even if it is more traditional.

Yup, they have the brightness cranked up high and color combinations to draw attention (good or bad) in the pictures. They can easily be tailored to individual preferences. We have a nice ambient lighting package in both of our cars and most of the time I forget it's there but when I do look and notice it, it's just a nice warm glow set to my liking.
