I was at the fancy mall in Tysons yesterday, they always have a bunch of insane cars there. They had a Mclaren GT, the new Rolls Royce Ghost, a Fisker and an Aston Martin DBX SUV. I was shocked by the crooked emblems on the rear hatch:
With the possible exception of the S, I don't see anything really crooked. The height alignment and kerning of the letters are both awful though. Agree that this is an embarrassment for the brand.
Given that Astons still use last-gen Mercedes infotainment and switchgear and can't even develop their own engines, the shoddy build quality is the least of their issues.
I don't see the appeal of any modern Aston over a Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley, etc unless you really like James Bond.

Here's the breakdown but AM does produce their own engine specifically the 5.2L V12. The 6.5 NA V12 was developed with Cosworth. The 4.0 from Mercedes-AMG is offered on some but not all their models
Aston Martin Valhalla - 4.0 V8 Mercedes-AMG
Aston Martin Vantage - 4.0 V8 Mercedes-AMG / 5.2 V12 Aston Martin
Aston Martin DBX - 4.0 V8 Mercedes-AMG
Aston Martin Valkyrie - 6.5 V12 Aston Martin-Cosworth
Aston Martin DBS - 5.2 V12 Aston Martin
Aston Martin DB11 - 4.0 V8 Mercedes-AMG / 5.2 V12 Aston Martin
That's how all of them coome out of factory. I guess it has something to do with surfacing.
EDIT: it seems like they went for surfacing adjusted type alignment as letter M need more panel surface to stick properly but somehow they ended up with botched lettering transport template straight from the factory.
I agree that it is most likely a second-rate body-shop repair.
When my old Celica had the chrome Toyota-logo ripped off the trunk and paint scratched (a common teen-age prank in the Nineties), the body shop didn't even replace the name correctly. Instead of a horizontal "TOYOTA CELICA" on the trunk, like the stock trim, they did it vertically.......
I highly doubt they chose a brand new Aston Martin with a body shop repair to display in the mall lol
The Mall is exactly where a lot of kids with nothing better to do will try and pull pranks on it....like they did on my Celica.
But, for brevity's sake, let's assume that you are correct...don't forget that Astons are among the few vehicles that are still actually built in Britain, with British labor. That might explain somewhat less than perfect fit or finish, although Astons are supposedly hand-built, like a Rolls.
I agree with you on one thing, though......the whole Tysons area is BIG money. I know the place well.....I live only a few miles from it. There are high-dollar dealerships there that are difficult to find almost anyplace else on the East Coast (or in the Eastern U.S.) outside of New York City/Manhattan.
