An earlier poster suggested the backseat Tesla driver was let out of jail quickly because San Francisco is a sanctuary city.

Agreed, the thread is getting off topic, but you only exacerbated this with your response. What you glossed over in said response was the fact that sanctuary rules only apply to incarcerated illegal immigrants. There is huge difference between those illegal immigrants who come here to work and those who come here and commit crime. Perhaps the more pernicious criminals are those who exploit illegal immigrants by hiring them under the table, not paying them, and abuse them by not abiding by any of our labor laws in their treatment.

Too bad the whole "sanctuary city" thing was brought up in the first place.

Well in fairness it was brought up because it was totally misunderstood what it meant.

That's a pretty racist assumption your making. You have no idea when his father immigrated to the US. Maybe like my father, his father immigrated to the US and worked his *** off to build his wealth. My father arrive in Los Angeles in 1958 to go to university, and like most people, to live a better life. This guy is a spoiled stupid rich kid, but if he was White I'm sure you wouldn't have made that particular comment or even brought up sanctuary city, which is just a dog whistle. I grew up with plenty of White friends that did stupid reckless and mindless ****

Folks drop the debate content or get ejected from this thread. No warnings

mmarshall, you started this mess and know better. If you have to qualify any post or follow up with “because it might get too political.” then it already has and don’t hit reply.

California places Tesla’s ‘Full Self-Driving’ under review

Hopefully Tesla will voluntarily step up and change their wording

Good luck with that. Counting on companies to just "do the right thing" without worrying about profits without govt oversight rarely ends up with the "right" result. I'm currently watching "Crime of the Century" on HBO ... great example.

Autopilot is a safety system. If the driver has their hands on the steering wheel, it assumes the person is in control so it keeps driving straight. If the person lets his hands off the wheel, it beeps and buzzes and if there is no response, it will slow down and stop the car. The driver should be thankful autopilot was on because in most other cars, he may be dead as he would have veered off the road or worse.

I've driven this road many times. It can carry a lot of traffic between Chicago and Milwaukee but fortunately for others sake it didn't look too busy while that guy took his nap.

That driver pulled over and stopped amazingly well for a guy that was asleep. Impressive. Maybe he was asleep but forgive me if I'm skeptical of these claims.

.... is there a full vid of this instead of that short clip?

We all agree here that the guy who continues to drive in his Tesla from the backseat is an idiot. And we all agree that he shouldn't be doing that. Love or hate Tesla. But the fact is that most Tesla drivers that paid for Autopilot use it responsibly as it should be used. And a lot are ignoring the fact that Tesla makes it clear that an autonomous vehicle this does not make (is that Shakespeare sounding enough? ). The data proves that Autopilot has been proven overall to be an effective safety feature, and has saved more lives than if human intervention was needed. In fact the overall safety record of Tesla's makes it one of the safest vehicles on the road. Can it be abused? Sure. People have proved that it can be. But so can any car.

What I really want to say I can't because, I may get in trouble, because, it may be politically incorrect. But what I will say is that it all boils down to the media not having anything significant to report, all though lots of stuff is going on in the world. I still stand by that this is a nothing story

Default Anyone Out There With A Tesla Model 3 Performance?

I sold my 2014 ISF a few months back and recently ordered a Model 3 Performance. I'm still on the fence about taking delivery in the next month or so. The more I read about Tesla the more concerned I become. Losing 16-20% of the power below 75% charge. Power loss when it's cold or batteries aren't at optimal temp (winters here are pretty cold). I know ICE has many downfalls as well but the ability to perform consistently is something to be valued I think. I don't need an EV, gas prices aren't a concern nor is the range, my order of the M3P was more so for the performance/acceleration aspect.

So I guess the question is, has anybody switched over/had both and what are you thoughts?
