Meh. Feels like the LS500. Way late getting here, and will likely be a big disappointment when it does.
No faith in Toyota or Lexus anymore. Once my 430s and my son's RX are done, it's likely the end of the road for Toyota with me. Too little innovation from Toyota, and too many newer, more innovative products from the rest of the automotive world.
Bob, Bob, Bob. That's sacrilege in my book. There will be no dinner for you 🙂

Also, 5.5s is pretty slow for a sports sedan. Its about the same speed as a Honda Accord...sad. Also, I never said your LC500 was "slow"...i just said it wasn't fast
Toyota is pretty much at the top not because they build the fastest or most powerful cars, but because they build reliable comfortable cars that last. I would take a 10 year old LC500 over any brand new M series or Mercedes or Audi product. My nieces husband sold his 2008 IS250 that never had a problem, bought a three or four year old low mileage 3 series BMW, that ended up in shop 3 months later for various drivetrain related issues. I warned him after he bought it. He ended up selling it and going back to his older Highlander.
If I want to go really crazy fast, I'll join you and buy a Tesla

Lexus was very competitive in terms of performance in the past. The 2nd gen GS was ahead of the Germans for a bit and the 2nd gen IS350 (which you have) was extremely competitive and quick for its time. Remember the LFA? The ISF? Lets not forgive Lexus for just sitting on its hands for the last 10 years in terms of powertrain development. They've reused the V6 and V8 multiple times and now, they are behind. Toyota's fastest car is really just a BMW. I'm happy they're bringing back the IS500...its a start but they should put their money where their mouth is and develop a hybrid or hydrogen car that can compete with the BEVs. At least that new NX will have the Rav 4 Prime powertrain which is pretty good.
I'd respect them more if they actually followed their rhetoric and not release EVs if they didn't believe in them. Release hydrogen based cars and pump some money into infrastructure and drive the technology you believe in...instead you just follow and release the same things other manufacturers do. At least the other manufacturers are honest and acknowledge that they see EVs as the future. I want Toyota to push the innovation and do something radical, different, progressive. I once saw Lexus as their vehicle for innovation but its hard to see that Lexus right now.
...
Other than heavily editorialized click-bait headings from a certain few EV-fan blogs, can you point out where Toyota actually said they did not believe in EVs? The direct quotes I've seen all indicate Toyota would be in development of all possible choices until a clear winner emerges, and that could still be EVs. Doesn't mean Toyota can just drop support for a good chunk of the world for which BEVs just don't make sense at this time, or even in the near future.
do you guys talk to non-car people about how they pick a car? NONE know anything about or have any interest in an EV. Toyota seems to be doing quite well in sales still. There is no crisis here.

I completely agree that EV mindshare isn't huge right now amongst many people. That is the perfect opportunity to bring a competing technology to the market and try to intercept the growth and win as the new emerging technology. This is precisely the reason why Toyota should go all out with their hydrogen cars and build out the infrastructure. They have about 15 years to get this right before many of the ICE bans come into play.
The fine print in the article says they will buy a pure or Hybrid vehicle. Also, 70 per cent said they needed tax and/or automotive company incentives to make them change their mind and buy an EV.

Yes, which is higher than.... "NONE know anything about or have any interest in an EV" but if were going to accept Toyota's word games such as "electrified" then 70% have interest in an electric vehicle.
I sure hope that Lexus makes a compelling EV some day. By then the charging infrastructure will be better and I'll definitely get back into a Lexus. I'm rooting for Lexus! 😁
You think baby boomers are the demo to predict purchasing trends?
No, but none of them want EVs....or a slim minority at best. Lotttts of boomers around who will be with us for the next 20 plus years.

You mean millennials that take out student loans and buy cars, clothes, etc. with them and then ***** and moan when the student loan bills come? They can't afford expensive EVs.
Younger crowd are more accepting of EVs but I don't know one person with an EV or anyone who desires one. I'm 39.
