I think his point is an E450, setting aside that it's a sedan, has performance that seems to align more with the long range Model Y, which is $53k in the US. Performance and FSD upgrades don't make any changes to the interior.

On the flip side, we are used to the idea that upgraded models include interior upgrades or at least different options. Tesla doesn't work that way as has been noted many times, and they never will. Some people won't like that and now they finally have some other options in the EV space.

Default Tesla Model Y 7 Seater

First time I've seen a vid on one, when I first heard there was going to be a 7-seater option I thought it would end up being completely useless. Yes it's small but not bad and great for kids plus there is still a fair bit of room behind the seats. Good packaging by Tesla.

Still makes more sense than the 6-seater Model S.

Good?? Finally a 3rd row that's more questionable than the one in the RX-L. Purely for kids, but minimal coverage from the sun at all for those in the 3rd row. No space under the 2nd row seat for feet/shoes. Anyone taller, would be scared of headroom, or head striking the upper ceiling/beam from the liftgate. Unique and good space packaging should be the target for many EVs.

not sure on the take rate of vehicles with a 3rd row that really wasn't designed for it...but it must be enough for the manus to make them for their ROI.

if you need a 3rd row, just get a van or an SUV designed for it!

watched this afternoon. This was a fair review. Very interesting to hear his criticism. I think he says it has the worst suspension ever or something a long those lines. Too bad it’s made in China Very interesting to see how he moves some of the screen icons around

It would be made in Germany if there wasn't endless red tape and fake environmentalists doing everything possible to delay Giga Berlin.

i don't think that would address his complaints (noisy, terrible ride, terrible build quality, unacceptable not to have gauges or hud in front of the driver).

Interesting, so the build quality is terrible whether it is made in China or the US? I would have thought maybe it would be different based on different management or culture.

The Berlin and Austin Model Y will be built differently with the new mega casting technique. Will be interesting to see if it improves.

so i read the model Y's coming out of texas will have the new (4680?) batteries from the get go, is that right?
will that increase range?
i also read that elon musk wants the texas plant to cover sales from there to the eastern u.s., so does that mean the west gets older tech from fremont plant?

The 4680 is lighter with the same capacity. Some think higher range but others think they will just give you equivalent range with the older tech so buyers won't know the difference.

I'd be pissed if I got the Fremont car.

You won’t see two different model y Tesla’s for the US. I think the freemont plant will eventually close y production , it will all come from Texas. Can also import from China
