Not sure where you got this info.

i4 is built on the RWD CLAR platform used by all RWD BMWs. Its just an EV version of the upcoming 4series GranCoupe which will have exact same styling.

The Porsche Taycan and Audi variant are much more appealing. We shall see how BMW will price this thing but I expect it to be in the $60-70k range considering the iX is $80k.

You're right. I stand corrected. It's based on a modified version of the CLAR platform.

I think, other than the grille, that the styling is quite bland. It's going to take me a long time to get used to that new BMW grille.

Every time I read something about this car, in my head when I see "i4" I read it as "inline 4".

Real talk, I thought it was the same car as the current 4 Gran Coupe with a different grille upon first glance. Side view is almost indistinguishable.

However, the biggest difference is the removal of the shoulder line. Like Mercedes's current design language, recent BMW's have started removing all their character lines in favor of flat bland minimalist surfaces.

The removal of the strong character line through door handles and Hoffmeister kink - both long time BMW styling elements - really makes this a much worse design than the previous 4series GC. BMW is making all their cars look less like BMWs and just putting the ugly grill in the front. 🐽
