Kia EV6
Used to be that Kia was generally the company with mostly 4-cylinder engines now that has become Lexus. Amazing. And now Kia is moving aggressively into EVs.
If you want a Lexus V6 get it soon won't be long before none of them have a V6.

The KIA EV looks great from the front, but terrible from the back. Unpaired wheel well aches do not help either And was just looking at the MSRP, way too much money IMO for the KIA. At least it comes with a power sunroof
Interior is nice

Only 6 cylinder in the 50k range comes from... Kia, a non luxury brand in the form of a hatchback. Lol. Genesis too, but it'll either be light on features or right under 60k without tax.
It might be your everyday EV but its not an every day vehicle for your average consumer, which is the target market for KIA, Toyota, Honda, Chevy, etc.
At the 50k price range, I'm going with a real luxury car like a Lexus. The badge, the styling, the cost, the drivetrain - non of it warrants a 50k price tag(at least in my opinion).
The problem is that car manufacturers are trying to be something that they are not. KIA is trying to get more money out of their target market, but those who can afford 50k cars are in a different segment(Luxury- Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Cadillac, BMW, MERC, Buick, Genesis).
If the demand wasnt there, the cars wouldn't sell. Business 101. There is no argument that something is overpriced when consumers are competing to pay MORE than the price to buy it. If anything its underpriced.
It's still a 50k car(which is luxury money). I would never spend that kind of money on a KIA.
[QUOTE=xGS350x;11430843]All the Lexus can be optioned with the V6.[quote]
Incorrect. None of the new Lexus models can be had with a 6, RX, NX, etc no 6.
Keep on moving those goalposts lol

As for comparing EVs to ICEs, everybody who buys an EV chooses one over an ICE, because thats what they had before...
I went through all the replies, and there is not much more I can add. If you are looking for a brand new Lexus Luxury model (SUV, CUV or Sedan), you will be hard pressed to find a V6. $50k and under? No way. If you do find one, you just hit the jackpot!
Kia EV6 GT is not a luxury model, it a sports hatchback and daily driver. If I could get one at $50k, I would run, not walk!
There are various reasons why people are switching to EV'S, the biggest reason is because of the way they drive. Just an amazing experience. As someone who has owned many ICE vehicles in over 30 years (including the amazing IS350 you commented on) and still love them, I would never buy another one again unless it was for nostalgia/collecting reasons. No ICE vehicle can offer that instant torque, that feeling like some invisible force is pushing you. Certainly no 4 cylinder, turbocharged or not

I missed this. LOL What?!? Have you looked at what is being made today? EVERYBODY puts 4 cyls in their luxury lineup. There are tons of Mercedes and BMW models that ONLY come with a 4 cyl. Mercedes GLA, GLB, C Class, CLA GLC all only come with 4 cyls. Almost all E Classes and MB GLEs that are sold are 4 cyl, the new Lexus RX is a 4 cyl only. Finding a GLE450 with a 6 cyl is extremely rare. Your market info is like 10-15 years out of date.

The move away from the more powerful engines is obviously a cost cutting tactic, which further solidifies my point that big strong engines are really a luxury thing.
EVs to ICE, its a bad comparison as its apples to oranges.

1. The instant torque cannot be beaten on EVs. That quick acceleration makes for quick work of mundane driving. And this is where EVs really shine.
Disagree:
1. Spending 50k on a KIA.
2. Spending 50k on a non Luxury car
3. Spending 50k on an EV
I'd rather buy a used Luxury at 50k before even remotely considering that kind of money on a KIA or EV.
But the biggest consideration here is that speed isn't important for Luxury car owners. Power, Sophistication, and Comfort is more important.
And as quick as EV's are, ICE cars are not that far behind. You'll get to your destination maybe a minute quicker. But it wouldn't make sense to give up all of the other factors for that one minutes time.

Yea but that's mostly the entry level offerings from the Luxury car division. As you get past the 50k mark, you'll see mostly V6s or an option for it.

I'm going through the Lexus configurator through Costco Auto, and the base Luxury car that offers the V6 is the Base ES350 FWD, which starts at $41,440, but with dealer ADM's you will easily come out over $50K. The ES Luxury AWD, which starts out at $46,610 and Ultra Luxury versions only offer the 2.4L. The only other option in SUV's that offers the V6 is the LX 4WD, which starts out at $87K. The NX, the RX and the UX only offer 2.4L. Pretty much everything but the UX starts over $40K before dealership markups. BTW none of these are even available even if you want to buy one...and that's not because they are in high demand, but because Toyota/Lexus didn't manage their supply chain properly
The cars were built around these powerful and refined engines. Where has that spirit gone? Now you gotta pay extra for a V6?

This is a trend happening with all automakers from Lexus to Mercedes. Honda eliminated their 3.5L from the Accord back in 2017 with the 10th gen and began downsizing their Civic and Accord engines to 1.5L turbos. It's definitely a combo of cost cutting and trying to get better fuel efficiency, but most customers don't notice or don't care. It's enthusiasts like us that notice and care
