and that's why C+D, R&T, MT are irrelevant dinosaurs. They review cars for some kind of hard edge because they're all jaded and only spend a few hours in the cars. C+D's "review" is about 500 words. As for the brakes, they said the pedal was squishy, but stopping distances didn't suffer during their 'testing'.

The IS500 F Sport Performance is a bit like a Mustang GT with luxury appointments, very comfortable cruising, and fantastic build quality.

Video reviewers like Savagegeese also not it's no racer, but loved the car anyway.

Not sure if you're quoting something and whether your Oh boy is positive or not?

Of course not, it was never intended as an all day track car or a track car at all. it's a comfortable fun compact luxury car.

I'd say a close competitor is the genesis g70 3.5v6tt.

I think a lot of people are missing some important things. When Yaguchi-san developed the IS F, it was with the expectation the owners would take their cars to the track. He set a 20 minute session as his goal, and in truth, most HPDE sessions are about 20 minutes because that's all even sport oriented street cars can handle. This car IS NOT the IS F and has no aspirations to be the IS F. I can say from personal experience, the IS F gets soft right at 20 minutes with a moderately fast pace because it's heavy and has compromises to make it "Lexus-like" that don't go well with track performance. This car is the teaser. The girl in hotpants who will never, ever, compromise her morals just because she looks like she might. Push her, and you'll see she wasn't made for this kind of thing at all, and you'll be disappointed. At the same time, if you choose to flirt with her, she'll pump up your ego and make you think you're better than you really are right before she says "NO, I'm not that kind of girl!"

I wish Lexus all the success they can get from this venture. History says it won't be spectacular. I hope I am wrong. But I'm not trading my IS F for one of these because I'd have to do a whole bunch of things to it right out of the gate to make it as competent as my IS F. I'd rather take $20k and make my IS F into something more to MY liking.

How quickly we've come from "which reviewers" to "all critical reviewers are irrelevant". I'm out, nothing to see here.

I can see Lexus keep it on the market for the next decade. There will be attributes that new cars will lack, like a V8 or a soul or personality. It isnt priced outrageously and if they can move like 2 to 3k units a month, theres no reason to cancel it. Just think GX. Heck, a decade later, the vehicle actually INCREASED in popularity with incremental upgrades.

I do hope they keep producing it for the next 10yrs. That will give me time to actually get one.

be glad some automaker still has the drive to make a car like this considering what is coming. This is a more subdued dailyable hot rod than the pure F cars. Premium is the obvious spec to get. Just like the GS-F it will probably gain 30 rwhp from an exhaust because the factory system is so neutered

I think that like the LC500, a lof of the professional reviewers (such as C&D, MT etc) don't understand this car so it leads to them finding issues with it. Like others have said, this is not a track car. This is not something that is a replacement for the IS-F. This is a Grand Tourer with a glorious V8. Its fine to say that people who have old IS-Fs "would never buy this" and blah blah, well...I and people like me would buy this and would never buy an IS-F or RC-F or GS-F. They are not the same thing, nor are they meant to be. The "F" cars to me are too boy racerish and too sport oriented and I don't find them appealing at all. But this, and the LC500 I get and they really speak to me.

Its a question of what you're expecting.

This encompasses the goal set by Lexus for the IS500. To my understanding, it took quite a lot of convincing from Lexus North America management in order for this model to be green lit.

What a spectacular package. I am pleasantly surprised at the pricing. With current market situation there will be dealer mark ups. Probably last chance to get that glorious bulletproof NA v8 in a sports sedan, very tempting !

not everyone wants some trackcore car, can still very enjoy a dailyable hot rod of a car with a big engine. People who see the writing on the wall and will enjoy this car will buy it and hold onto it. Spreadsheet paper racers need not apply and will jump at the next numbers squirrel that gets released.
