Default Does idle-stop exist on Lexus models ?

Hello

My dad has an older (2010) Lexus and is shopping for a new one. Do any of the new year models come without the idle-stop / automatic engine cut off "feature" ?

Thank you

Welcome to CL as a new poster.

Your question probably depends on if it is a hybrid Lexus model or not. Engine-start/stop has been part of most hybrid drive-trains since their inception.

Both of our cars have auto start/stop. We keep it turned on in both of them and don't think about it any more. Both of them need to be turned off each time the car is started if you don't want it. My wife adapted to it before me since she didn't really care one way or another.

Yes, I didn't like it, either, on the Lacrosse, although it does increase city-MPG...my experience showed that. The Encore GX has a shut-off-button for it, which I use most of the time....but, like with LexBob's cars, you have to push it every time you start the engine. There are aftermarket-kits and tricks you cause to fool or disable it permanently, but I'd rather not mess with them...especially when the vehicle is under warranty.

Outside of the United States...there are some Lexus models with start-stop technology...The turbocharged RX300 has it.
